Bridge

The bridge is up! Actually, the 10-lane beauty opened quite a while ago now. I've just been meaning to grab a tripod and take some decent pictures of it, and haven't yet gotten around to it. I took the pictures below the very first day it opened. I'm pretty sure that the bridge itself is much more lit up now... it certainly was the day before I took this picture, but honestly, I've been too busy to even notice that. It is great to be connected to the West Bank again. The tragedy was very real, but the recovery was fascinating to me. As you know, I had a front row, daily view of the construction and now consider myself to be somewhat of an armchair civil engineer. On top of it all, traffic is way down in my 'hood and visiting my place is now easier than ever.

When I was scampering around grabbing these shots, I also saw the first accident to occur at the bridge site. I've subsequently witnessed 2 more, one fairly spectacular, and been a part of one just a block away. So... safety first.
