August

The dog days have arrived here in the Polis and that's cool with me. My eldest brother got married on the first weekend of the month in beautiful LaCrosse, WI. The ceremony was aboard a stunning cruise boat that knifed through the waters of the Mississippi under the watchful eyes of the majestic bluffs of southeastern Minnesota. An interesting side note: We had to travel 15 minutes from port to find ourselves in Minnesota waters in order for the ceremony to pass legal muster! It was the first time in three years that all 5 of us brothers were in the same room. Even if the best man left one out. Also it was the first time that the troupe of cousins had a chance to pile into some nasty cowboy bar and mingle in a social situation. Great times all around and an exceptional wedding. Except for the part where the hotel door lock almost made me miss the boat. And the reception. And nearly forced me to sleep in the hallway upon my return. Oh, well. We fired up a bonfire, fed my feet to chiggers, prowled Dubtown's pub scene, fished for gar, and went to a floating, nasty bar. I had a Schmidt there. Really, it was a cultural event.

Other than that, I've been working a lot. It is getting a bit frustrating as I have absolutely attained the goal I set for myself on my most recent project-- but I had to make one concession that bossman is not pleased about. So now comes the time when you try to shoehorn it all in. Hopefully we can wrap this up by fall.

Beat Aztecs!!

Somebody had to get the party started
