Merry Christmas!

...and Happy Holidays!

My Yoolrich says: "Take your holidays and shove it up your butt."

So... that's pretty festive.

Anyway, it was a pretty relaxing break involving lots of sleep and peanut butter sandwiches. I ventured out behind the homestead and took some pics for your enjoyment.

Here goes:

Also, Eww and I went to the Guthrie's "A Christmas Carol" today. It was quite well done and the venue is most impressive.

Happy New Year, suckers.

Cheese Grater

Basking in this, my first finals-free, end of the collegiate semester: Christmas edition, I coaxed shortstuff into peaceing right out of work the other day and heading downtown to watch the Holidazzle parade. If you don't recall from years past, a Minneapolitan tradition is to gather in the shopping district 4 (previously 5) times a week and watch an after-dark parade. Keep in mind that this Thanksgiving-through-Christmas tradition takes place outdoors where temps are routinely less than 5 degrees. During the day, volunteers comb the streets grabbing strangers off the sidewalks to dress them up in lights and load them on brilliant floats before stomping through the snow down Nicollet Mall, bisecting the city. This year the parade was hosted by Macy's after TCF bailed and left doubt about the annual holiday tradition's future. Coincidentally, Macy's also maintained the tradition of the Dayton's 8th floor auditorium Christmas display this year, transforming a whole floor of their flagship location into a Nutcracker fairytale. It was quite impressive.

Anyway, on the way there, our bus mowed over some chump in a Chevy Malibu. Seriously... how could you miss this?

Actually, no, that was just part of the parade. But our bus did shave off the front of a Malibu. Sucker. Always look both ways before pulling out. There might be a bus coming. That's honking at you. With a full load of passengers getting ready to laugh at you. Bahaha.

Chump.

Shoulda got Amazin' Fruit!

I was working on my final term paper of my life the other day in Dbros and this fellow sits down 8 inches away from me and starts talking to his "girlfriend" on the phone. Apparently things aren't well in their relationship, as he was pleading with her to come back to him. You see, he moved to Minnesota after spending years researching which state has the best welfare policies to suit him. He needed her to come back so he could keep his good thing going. Especially since he just got out of jail. Unfortunately for him, his phone only rings some of the time, and he was in the hospital earlier that day, so he missed her call. Seems that he was enjoying a delicious, delicious gummy bear. That's, singular, by the way, and it cracked off his tooth! Shocked and consternated, but unwilling to relinquish the sugar-based delicacy, he shifted ursa zucaris to the other side of his mouth before again biting down... and again breaking a tooth. Well, this prompted the hospital visit and, understandably, the incredible dose of narcotics pumping through his arteries. I'm just so glad that I was there, 8 inches away, to share in this man's pain. Though, I'm sure everybody else in the two-story coffee shop could hear his drug-induced rant as well.
