Cellularize

Some woman was in front of several hundred people discussing "transitions" yesterday during an orientation session I attended at the University of Minnesota. She was describing how change is an inherently scary phenomenon for mankind and went on to describe the feelings of anticipation and fear that her audience was probably feeling upon setting foot on the campus of the second largest university in the country. Interesting... I was more concerned about my hatred for the colors maroon and gold. In fact, there was one main thing that I gleaned from the 9:30am-7:30pm session that I sat through: You're not at ND anymore. Not one mention of the football program. Bizarre. All in all, I was so pleased with the way my $60 mandatory fee was put to use that I left as soon as the speakers started repeating themselves verbatim. Rock on!

Anyway, it's true... transitions are strange beasts. I'm currently in the middle of several and feel surprisingly good about them. Some transitions are subtle, while others are quite drastic. They range from emotional shifts to I'm-not-going-to-have-a-bed-to-sleep-in-tomorrow. One change I made is to get a cell phone. A real cell phone! It has a new number, but at least it will actually make calls. Bonus.

The other day I was talking about how the University is treating me like freak and Andrew responded by saying "That's because you are!! You're an engineer with a social life." Social lives, I've found, are not simply measured by the notations in black books or hours spent doing... whatever... I've had a lot of great conversations with a lot of great people this summer and it has made me pretty happy. I suppose sitting in front of a computer all the time isn't exactly what humans were bred to do.

Anyway, it has been a while since my last post. I saw the hillarity that is "Wedding Crashers" and had an incredible weekend in the sun. I got a lot of work done and have been locked in battle with "Big Gopher." This weekend will prove to be awesuminal, I'm sure, as Emily is coming up and I convinced Andrew to "Go out hard." It's been a crazy couple weeks, to be sure, but hopefully I'll be able to start updating on a more frequent basis.

Oh, and that's the last time you'll ever see me use the word "Cellularize."

Awsuminal. Robert, you rock. ROCK!
